Our lifestyle differs from other real estate development golf courses. 100% of Legend home site and homeowners are Legend members committed to living a Legendary lifestyle. Limiting development surrounding the golf course protects the integrity and value of the golfing and homeowner experience. 303 of the 428 acres were dedicated to a single 18-hole golf course and open space. Only 30 of the mere 83 residential lots border the magnificent course. Most of the homes on those lots are set back by as much as 250 feet from their golf course border, compared to 20 feet at other area clubs.
Our mission is to create a progressive private club tailored to the needs of today's young families. Our belief is that the decision to join a private club is a family decision, and the facilities, operational policies and programming must appeal to the entire family. This is not your father's private club, where women have limitations to tee time access. Operating policies must remain true to the club vision and reflect member desires. At The Legend our member Board of Advisors and Committees have direct policy influence. Legend Board and Committees are diverse, with 45% of the Board and 55% of Committees represented by women.
Our approach differs from all other "traditional" private country clubs in Metro Milwaukee. Member owned private clubs in Milwaukee obligate their members to non-refundable initiation fees and assess their member owners for capital improvements. Annual operating losses are simply divided up among shareholders in the form of dues and special assessments. Dues at Milwaukee private clubs rank among the highest in the country.
Our commitment is unmatched. The Legend is the only fully private club offering 100% refundable membership initiation deposits in metro Milwaukee. The Legend is the only fully private club who guarantees no member assessments for future capital improvements or operating losses. The decision to develop a private club vs. a public course required a long-term investment return expectation. The commitment to develop a Legendary family oriented private club required even greater investment. To date, membership refundable initiation deposits account for less than 40% of the current construction and operational cost of The Legend. A true Legend withstands the test of time. So too, will the commitment of Legend ownership.
